Please register and pay as soon as possible. Thank you.
Scope of the meeting
Production of food and other agricultural products in the next millennium will rely more than ever on innovative new technologies and novel high-tech systems. Primary production and post-harvest processing will see a further penetration of modelling, advanced control and artificial intelligence techniques in order to meet demands of quality, scale, economy and ecology. The conference aims at creating an atmosphere for fruitful exchange of challenging ideas. Scientists and practitioners are invited to present the state-of-the-art of control and modelling applications in agriculture, horticulture and post-harvest processing. Contributions that stress generic concepts of wide applicability are particularly welcomed.
The following non-exclusive list gives ideas of the various themes for which contributions are solicited:

IFAC-Copyright
The material submitted for presentation
at an IFAC meeting (congress, symposium, conference, workshop) must be
original, not published or being considered elsewhere. All papers accepted
for presentation will appear in the Pre-prints of the meeting and will
be distributed to the participants. Papers duly presented will be archived
and offered for sale, in the form of Proceedings, by Elsevier Science Ltd,
Oxford, UK. The presented papers will further be screened for possible
publication in the IFAC Journals Automatica and Control Engineering
Practice, or in an IFAC affiliated journal. A record of all presented
papers will also appear in Control Engineering Practice.
Copyright of material presented at
an IFAC meeting is held by IFAC. Authors will be sent a copyright transfer
form. Automatica, Control Engineering Practice and, after
these, IFAC affiliated journals have priority access to all contributions
presented. However, if the author is not contacted by an editor of these
journals, within three months after the meeting, he/she is free to re-submit
the material for publication elsewhere. In this case, the paper must carry
a reference to the IFAC meeting where it was originally presented.

General and traveling information
Information about Wageningen
Wageningen is an old trading station situated along the lower Rhine,
where traffic between the Dutch coastal towns and the German hinterland
passed by boat or by ox-drawn cart. The town is located in the centre of
the Netherlands, not far from Arnhem and is the seat of the Wageningen
University and Research Centre. Part from the bustling research and small-scale
industrial activities, there is a lively social atmosphere illustrated
by the numerous downtown cafés and restaurants. Many interesting
cultural centres are within a short reach of Wageningen. For instance the
world-famous collection of Van Goghs paintings and sculpture garden in
the Kröller M?ller museum in Otterlo or the national open air museum
in Arnhem.
Conference Centre
The meeting will be held in the Wageningen International Conference
Centre (WICC). The WICC is in the centre of the town and is well equipped
to host a group of scientists comfortably. You will have the opportunity
to visit Departments of the Wageningen UR. Wageningen University and DLO
have combined their forces in Wageningen University & Research Centre
(Wageningen UR). Following the conference, you may wish to spend a couple
of days in the Netherlands to visit the numerous historical and cultural
sites.
Location and travel to Wageningen
From Schiphol Airport (Amsterdam) it takes about 90 min. to reach the WICC by public transport. If you are arriving by plane, you can take a train from the airport to Ede-Wageningen. Trains leave every 30 min. with a change at Duivendrecht station. Please ask at the airport railway information for a train schedule or look at the following website http://www.ns.nl/reisplan2.asp (destination Ede-Wageningen).
In Ede-Wageningen you should take a train-taxi to the WICC, Lawickse Allee 9, Wageningen.
If you are arriving from Germany or Eastern Europe,
you can take a direct train to Arnhem. From there it is a 30 minutes ride
by bus (busline 50 or Interliner 336) to Wageningen. The WICC is a 2 minutes
walk from the central bus station.
Weather in Wageningen
Temperature in July is usually summery. As there is always a chance
of rain in the Netherlands, bring a raincoat.
Language
The official language of the meeting is English.
Accommodation
Participants will be housed in the WICC and the Wageningen International
Residence, adjacent to the International Conference Centre (telephone +31
317 490133). Hotel costs are to be paid upon arrival.
